Born on September 6, 2015, in Kansas, Boulder began life as a competitive racing greyhound under the name Hashtag Xquisite. He primarily raced in Florida at the Boca Raton track, compiling an impressive 134 career starts and 12 victories. Boulder was graded as a Class SA racer, meaning he competed exclusively in elite, high-jackpot stakes races — a reflection of his speed, drive, and athleticism. His lineage is equally remarkable, with a paternal bloodline tracing back 35 generations to 1820 and a maternal line beginning in 1895.
After retirement, Boulder was adopted and given a name that perfectly suits him — inspired both by his striking, rock-solid physique and by his foster family’s connection to Boulder, Colorado. While his racing career may be behind him, his love of speed is not. His greatest joy is racing full-throttle at Milford Dog Park, where he effortlessly outruns every dog in sight, flipping the switch and turning on his “jets” just for fun.
Boulder also treasures his nightly walks through Woodmont by the beach, though he’s clever enough to recognize when he’s nearing home — at which point he slows dramatically in protest, determined to stretch the walk just a little longer. A natural hunter at heart, Boulder keeps vigilant watch over his yard and has dispatched countless squirrels, rabbits, and birds daring enough to cross his path. His acrobatic leaps — snatching birds midair at heights well over six feet — are often likened to a shark breaching the water.
Despite his athletic prowess, Boulder is gentle, quiet, and deeply affectionate. He almost never barks, reserving his voice only for passing bicycles or mopeds he can spot through the fence. He prefers realistic squeaky toys and takes great pride in making them stop squeaking — always pausing afterward to look at his human family with an expression that seems to say, “I think it’s broken… Can you fix it?”
We have been honored to care for Boulder since July 2019, and over the years we’ve watched him grow from an elite racer into an extraordinary companion. Though he’s a heavy dog, he loves resting his head on those he trusts during quiet moments and greeting family members with a gentle snout kiss when they return home. Boulder is truly a sweetheart, and he is deeply loved — not only by his family, but by all of us who have had the privilege of watching his journey and growth over the years.
